Susan is enthused with rhythm, whether it is groovin' in the pocket or experimenting with layered polyrhythms.
She is all about rhythm’s cyclical patterns, exploring the drum set as a unique voice, textures/tones and improvisation.
She is influenced by many different styles of music, particularly anything groove based.
Susan currently plays in several bands in addition to freelancing, living in Denver, Colorado. She has played on several recordings of various genres and has extensive touring experience.
Susan finds playing music to be a beautiful thing to do. She studied jazz drum set at the University of Oregon and has been playing for 23 years.
Susan was a top 10 finalist in the 2014 "Hit Like a Girl" International drumming contest. She has toured both nationally and internationally with multiple bands, one of which opened 15 shows for Depeche Mode.
